A murky cool day outside, but at Croy much energy was being created indoors putting the finishing touches to the plaster carvings. The plasters will now be left to dry and then I will seal them with dilute PVA, finally they will be polished with marble wax ready for the finale of the Shadows 2012 project on Wednesday 18th April at Croy Miners’ Welfare.

The photos of the carving are really good. My mum’s (Mary) looks brilliant! Thank you Marion for all your time and effort at Croy, it was a real pleasure and we have thoroughly enjoyed it. Fiona
Thanks Fiona I’ve really enjoyed working with the group at Croy and am very grateful for the hard work that you all put in and the great results. As you mentioned it was a shame that there was not a bit more time to finish off as we were all enjoying the process so much!
Thank you Marion for the great experience, I really did enjoy the carving, although it was a bit daunting at first when we realised that it was for the exhibition and not just for ourselves!
Couldn’t possibly have done it without your help, hope you were pleased with the final results. I have to say I think that they did contribute well to the exhibition. Tonight was a new experience too!
All in all really appreciated . Thank you Mary
Mary, I’m glad you enjoyed the experience, the finished plasters look great! The dramatic lighting really makes the most of them in the final display. I loved working with the group in Croy and was really impressed with the quality of the work produced and the dedication and hard work put in by everyone. I hope that the art group at Croy will be able to build upon the experience and use their new skills for future classes and projects, I have passed on information on suppliers to Seamus and Jim.
Best wishes to you Mary, Marion
Hi Marion, Vey happpy that the carvings were well received, nice to meet again at the exhibition, and did enjoy the guided walk, though I would have enjoyed it better if I hadn’t forgotten my walking boots! Once again thanks for sharing your expertise with us novices. It was a very worthwhile experience for me . We went to hear Seamus yesterday too. He puts a great deal of effort into what he does. Little Shannons great uncle was there too and he seemed impressed with what she had done. Don’t worry about the mistake in my name. Can’t do anything about it now anyway, and it has been happening for years! People seem to find it impossible to accept that it is not two names! Take care, and maybe we will see you again some time. Best wishes Mary.
Marion, it was lovely meeting up with you again last night, you have done a fabulous job on the plinths and all the finishing touches on the carvings. They looked amazing within the exhibition so thanks again for all your hard work
Hi Marion. The show last night was I think. a great success and a big thank you must go to everyone who participated in putting this event together. I thought all our sculptures where displayed wonderfully well, and I was personally pleased to be involved in the carvings along with my daughter Louise and my grandaughter Shannon who had a great time and adored the wee bit of attention she had last night.
Kindest regards
Jim Clark.
